Shemekia Copeland is a multi-GRAMMY nominee known for her deeply soulful voice and fearless, honest songs. The Chicago Tribune hails her as the greatest female blues vocalist today. Her new album, Blame It On Eve, produced by Will Kimbrough, features 12 powerful tracks that blend serious themes like women’s rights and climate change with fun, uplifting moments. The album includes collaborations with artists like Jerry Douglas and Alejandro Escovedo, and showcases Copeland’s dynamic, engaging style.
Born in Harlem in 1979, Copeland began her career early, performing with her famous father, bluesman Johnny Copeland. She released her debut album, Turn The Heat Up, at 18 and quickly became a blues sensation. Over the years, she has earned five GRAMMY nominations and numerous awards, with her music evolving to include more roots and Americana influences.
Copeland has performed worldwide, sharing the stage with legends like Bonnie Raitt and Keith Richards, and has been featured on national television and in major publications. She hosts a popular blues radio show on SiriusXM and continues to receive international acclaim for her work. With Blame It On Eve, Copeland offers a refreshing break from the heaviness of the world while staying true to her bold, courageous style.
